2022 Tax Rebates

In January, it was evident that the Commonwealth’s revenues were strong. Not only did we have the money to give much needed raises to our teachers and law enforcement officers, we also made big investments in transportation and other key services – without raising taxes.

More importantly, we were able to reduce the tax burden on Virginians by $4 billion – and some of that money is probably on its way to you in the coming days and weeks.

The General Assembly, working hand-in-hand with Governor Youngkin, was able to include one-time rebates for Virginians who filed an income tax return and had a tax liability of at least $250. The end result is that most taxpayers are getting checks of up to $250 per person or $500 per couple. Checks and direct deposits will begin going out this Friday, and will be sent out in the order in which people filed their taxes.

If you filed early, you should expect a direct deposit or check soon!  The Department of Taxation will have a lookup tool available on September 19th that will let you see how big your rebate will be and when you can expect to receive it. Click here to see the Department of Taxation’s information page on the rebates.

As always, if I can ever be of service to you, please don’t hesitate to reach out. It’s an honor to be the voice of the 23rd District.

Kind regards,
